The theater in my town is a little frowsy, a little slug-like, a bubble or two off plumb, but it’s mine. Since the temperature is below zero today, the marquee could stay like this for a while. It just adds to the fun to have to guess when the movie starts.
A classmate from high school works here. She and I have gabbed over the popcorn and Junior Mints until I’ve missed previews (horrors!), but I love getting the skinny on flicks coming out from someone in the “biz.” Makes me feel all insiderly and cool. Plus, she’s a closet fan-girl, so we squee quietly (but with feeling) about the hotties on screen.
It’s not as easy to sneak into a second movie here, but I manage it once in a while. Especially during the holidays when the lobby is full and the staff gets distracted by kid-vomit and jumbo Icees dumped in the aisles. I have my ways.

Ha! An end of the year confession! As “Miss Daisy” would say (as in Driving Miss Daisy), the prices they charge are highway robbery!

That is SO my justification.
