Breathless

Batman, The Dark Knight Rises, Christian Bale

Grumblings in the press.  Critics unhappy.  They must have seen a different movie.

If you liked Batman Begins and if you thought The Dark Knight was a decent movie, then The Dark Knight Rises will suck the air out of your lungs for three hours.  I couldn’t have eaten popcorn even if I’d wanted to.  I was too busy shouting and throwing my hands in the air, or grabbing my friend, Penny, who graciously agreed to sit with me in the dark and hold me down in my seat.  Why wasn’t anyone else in the theater clapping and hooting?  Well, to be fair, a few others were, but who would know with me cheerleading in the front?

This is a perfect third act to Christopher Nolan’s saga—I don’t care what anyone else says.  It makes my storyteller’s heart very happy.

POSSIBLE SPOILER: The death near the end in the truck after it crashed was hilarious and brilliantly pulp. Loved the movie.

I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m soooo looking forward to it. I had great fun re-watching The Dark Knight (gearing up for Dark Knight Rises)- I can’t wait! 🙂

Glad to hear you enjoyed the movie and were able to do so safely. The situation in Colorado is so, so sad!
    Hugs,

My daughters and I went to the drive-in Sat to see this. Yes, there’s an honest-to-goodness, old-fashioned drive-in theater less than an hour away. We try to go every summer. We sat in our lawn chairs, ate popcorn and drank wine. It was great! Oh, and the movie was pretty good, too. 😉

How fun! I think I’d miss the sound-surround, though. Gotta have that sound-drama. Though hearing a parking lot-full of people exclaiming over the choice bits would be lovely, too.

Seeing this in two days! Alas, I’m ashamed that a huge Bat-fan such as myself wasn’t there opening night, but I’ve been so busy. Still really looking forward to it, though, and your short review is just fueling my excitement!
