30 Days of Sketches—Day 16

Sketch of a glass

Glass Almost Empty

I don’t get transparency.  The highlights, the warped lines, the weird reflections and odd shadows—they all sort of scare me.  But, since this whole drawing challenge is an exercise in staring down my art fears, it only made sense to give it a shot.

Your words here are so profound! As I look at the drawing, I’m struck by the fact that, even though the straw seems to go all kitty-wampus… even though it looks like it is cut right off there in that one place… It is, in Reality, still intact, still straight and whole. The “broken part” is simply an illusion.

I love your daring with this drawing challenge! I could no more tackle transparency than speak Greek. You motivate me, my friend. You SO motivate me!
    Hugs,
