30 Days of Sketches—Day 10

Sketch Medina from "Chicks with Guns"

I found another inspiring book at the bookstore, Chicks with Guns.  Lots of photos of pistol-packin’ Mamas, sedate plantation belles with shotguns, multi-generational female clans, law enforcement and military babes.  It was a book made for my Bad-Assery Heroines.  I had to try to capture at least one, but I got too antsy to get all the way to this young girl’s rifle.  Still, I like her.

I also tried out some new pencils, harder leads than the ones I had.  Since I learned to draw with a regular Number Two pencil, I’m more comfortable with the harder lead.  It still allows smudging and shading, but not as many accidental smears.

I’m getting the hang of this a little bit.

Chicks with guns – don’t you love Angelina Jolie when she’s packing? 🙂
