The Juggler’s Hand

This novella is the first piece I’ve written in a long time that isn’t fan fiction.
Twenty years ago, a friend and I decided to write a novel together. We spent a couple of years on it, creating two separate, detailed worlds; backstories and complicated character studies; new languages; new science… We just never really got around to the story itself.
Unfortunately, the friendship didn’t survive our artistic differences, but the characters did. My friend claimed rights to her characters and I did the same with mine. I knew I’d find a story for Grania one of these days.
As with Callinda, this piece is in the process of a complete rewrite, but I offer the first section for your amusement.
